John Kearney

John Kearney creates welded steel sculptures from automobile bumpers, steel, and smaller metal objects, like common household scissors. Despite their odd materials, which one might assume would be chunky and approximate, Kearney manages to capture the essence of the creatures he renders, be they giraffes, apes, birds, or fish.

Kearney's works are in museums and collections throughout the United States, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Detroit Children's Museum, the Standard Oil Building of Chaicago, and the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.
